Apple Cider Vinegar and Its Fermented Counterparts Have A Fancy Name Now!


Weston A. Price wrote extensively on the amazing dental health of indigenous peoples worldwide. He attributed this in part to the fermented foods each culture had developed and eaten.
Today researchers are experimenting with the ferment process in foods such as apple cider vinegar and more. In fact, so much study has been done on the process of ferment in foods that there has even been a “look-alike” “fast-acting” fermented ingredient manufactured!

This ingredient used in studies; propionate, written chemically as C2H5COO− (propanoic acid minus one hydrogen ion) is naturally produced in the gut by fermented fiber, and can now be imitated. Its simulation as an inulin-propionate ester (IPE) provides much larger amounts of propionate than people can generate in a normal diet. IPE makes one feel full and may help control appetite.

“Molecules like propionate fuel the release of gut hormones that control appetite, but you need to eat enormous quantities of fiber to attain a strong effect,” said Gary Frost of Imperial’s department of medicine, who led the study.

“We wanted to find a more effectual method to transport propionate to the gut.”

In a study published in the journal Gut, Frost’s team gave 20 volunteers either IPE or inulin, a dietary fiber, and then allowed them to eat as much as they liked from a buffet.

The team found that those given IPE ate 14 percent less on average and had higher concentrations of appetite-reducing hormones in their blood.

In a second phase, 60 overweight volunteers took part in a 24-week study in which half were given IPE powder to add to their food and half given inulin.

Only one out of 25 volunteers given IPE who completed the study gained more than 3.0 percent of their body weight, compared with six out of 24 given inulin. None of the IPE group gained more than 5.0 percent of their body weight, compared with four in the inulin group.

After 24 weeks, the IPE group also had less fat in their abdomens and livers compared with the inulin group.

Frost said that while the findings were only from a small, early-stage study, they offered “encouraging signs” that IPE might help prevent weight gain in overweight people.

He and his team are working with Imperial Innovations, a technology commercialization company focused on developing promising British academic research, on taking IPE to market.

The Danger of Eating or Drinking Canned Foods…


Today’s canning industry uses bisphenol A (BPA) a chemical which may raise blood pressure. This is according to a recent study.
BPA is used in plastic bottles, food containers, dental fillings and cash register receipts. In cans, it is an intrinsic part of the lining. Researcher Dr. Yun-Chul Hong, director of the Environmental Health Center at Seoul National University College of Medicine in Korea states,
“We found that drinking two canned beverages increased systolic blood pressure by 5 mm Hg.”
Though two drinks raises systolic blood pressure by only 5 mm Hg; an increase of 20 mm Hg doubles the risk for heart disease. Not only has BPA been linked to heart problems, but it is also indicated in developmental problems in children.

Research indicates that BPA leaches into food and beverages. Since its characteristics are similar to the estrogen hormone, it is thought that it interacts with cells in the heart and blood vessels that are sensitive to estrogen.

“Because these results confirm findings from other studies, doctors and patients, particularly those with high blood pressure or heart disease, should be aware of the possible risks from increased blood pressure when consuming canned foods or beverages,” he said.

A report, dated December 8, 2014 in the Hypertension journal delineates a study conducted by Hong’s team of 60 men and women aged 60 and up. The results showed a 1,600 percent increase in BPA among those who drank from cans, as opposed to those who drank from glass.

Steven Hentges, American Chemistry Council disputes Hong’s findings, calling the study a gross overstatement of findings.
Steven Gilbert, director and founder of the U.S. Institute of Neurotoxicology and Neurological Disorders, disagreed. Gilbert said he was especially concerned with children’s exposure to BPA, because it can affect physical and mental development such as  gynecomastia (male breast growth).

BPA has also been associated with behavioral problems, obesity and type 2 diabetes, Gilbert said. Other studies have linked the chemical to breast and prostate cancer, and heart and kidney disease, he added.

Americans are becoming self-sustainable in many ways!


Alfalfa seeds, purchased at the health-food store are becoming an American favorite. They are easily stored, quickly sprouted and readily substitute for that head of lettuce that was not to be found in the fridge. They do require three days of preparation though.
1. Soak about 1 inch of seeds in the bottom of a quart jar overnight. 2. In the morning, rinse and swirl, and rinse again and drain. 3. Leave slightly tilted with a thin piece of fabric screwed on under the canning ring. 4. Rinse in the evening and tilt. 5. Repeat morning and evening rinses.  6. By the 3rd day, your sprouts are usually ready to slip into pita pockets etc. And there you have it! You didn’t need to go to the grocery store anyway:)


Bad Food!

producing farm in the USA was sold in September to China with the unanimous support of its stockholders!! The hogs will still be raised here, but slaughtered and packaged for sale there before being sent back here. This includes labels: of Morrell, Eckrich, Krakus, Cudahy, Premium Hams, Cook’s, Gwaltney. The same with many chickens. They can now be shipped there, but when they come back all that needs to be labeled is that they… WERE RAISED IN THE USA. Not that they were
processed in China!!! Our great FDA at work again. The chickens will be all processed and most sold to fast food restaurants for sandwiches, along with schools and supermarkets. The China slaughter and processing are not nearly equal – and, by far – to the requirements here. Buy USA or Canada only.   to-china-for-processing-and-back-to-us.html

We recently learned that Starkist Tuna is now owned by Korea, and is in big conflict with the U. S. concerning quality, safety, and records, which Korea refuses to produce. Read several articles on Google about this. Even one article which was defending the eating of tilapia, said to avoid the fish that
came from China. To confirm, I had just returned home from buying Albertson’s 4-day special of 4 bags of frozen tilapia for the price of one. Sure enough, on the top of the bags, it read “farm raised”, and
on the bottom in small print it said:” China “… read all the way down…
Recently a Food inspector on TV… said he had lived overseas and he had seen the filthy conditions their foods are raised and processed in. It is enough to make you throw-up. Some foreign workers have to wear masks as they work in these places, because the food is so rotten and filthy, it makes them want to throw up. Many of their fish on Fish Farms are fed raw sewage daily. He said he has seen so much filth throughout their food growing and processing that he would “never” eat any of it. They raise this filth, put some food coloring and some flavorings on it, then they ship it to the USA & Canada for YOU to consume and feed to YOUR families. They have no Food & Safety Inspectors. They ship it to you to buy and poison your families and friends.

Following are examples of imported food we eat and buy:
NOT okay:
Green Giant frozen vegetables are from China, and so are most of Europe’s Best.
Arctic Gardens are Okay. So is Birdseye.
Never buy the grocery store garlic unless it is clearly marked from USA or Canada, the other stuff is grown in people’s… dung (even worse than chicken poop). China is the largest producer of garlic in the world; U. S. is next.
Buy only local honey, much honey is shipped in huge containers from China and re-packed here.
Cold-FX is grown and packed in China and is full of fecal bacteria. Doesn’t work anyway, big scam.
If the country of origin is not clearly marked “beware”.
If produce, ask an employee. Watch out for packages which state “prepared for”, “packed
by” or “imported by”. We don’t understand the lack of mandatory labeling, especially the produce.
The country of origin should be clearly shown on the item in the store.
Go to the local farmers’ markets in season and keep a wary eye open the rest of the year.
Please read this very carefully, and read to the very bottom. It’s important for all of us.
How is it possible to ship food from China cheaper than having it produced in the U. S. or Canada?
Beware, Costco sells canned peaches and pears in a plastic jar that come from China.

To be specific:
Recently The Montreal Gazette had an article by the Canadian Government on how Chinese feed the fish: They suspend chicken wire crates over the fish ponds, and the fish feed on chicken dung. If you search the Internet about what the Chinese feed their fish, you’ll be alarmed; e. g, growth hormones, expired anti-biotic from humans? Never buy any type of fish or shellfish that comes from these countries: Vietnam, China, Philippines.
Check this out personally.

Steinfeld’s Pickles are made in India – just as bad! Another example is in canned mushrooms. No-Name brand came from Indonesia…Also check those little fruit cups. They used to be made in Canada, in the Niagara region, until about 2 years ago. They are now packaged in China. Most sold in Aldi stores.

While the Chinese export inferior and even toxic products, dangerous toys, and goods to be sold in North American markets, the media wrings its hands! Yet, 70% of North Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended. Well, duh! Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, CANADA AND THE U. S.
Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says ‘Made in China’ or ‘PRC’ (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.
If 200 million North Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that’s a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor… fast! The downside? Some Canadian/American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory. Just one month of trading losses will hit the Chinese for 8% of their North American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness are worth it.
START NOW and don’t stop and tell your friends.
Send this to everybody you know. Let’s show them that we
are intelligent, and NOBODY can take us for granted.
Start reading labels more closely and buy something else even if
it cost a few cents more…

What You Don’t Know Might Hurt You…


Cucumbers are one of the most likely to be waxed-vegetables found in the grocery store.
Produce creates its own shield; a waxy layer to protect from dryness. In fact, there is an Asian gourd which self-waxes enough to keep for months! Cucumbers, melons and other fruits self-produce a waxy layer that rinses off. Because of this, processors often spray fruits and vegetables with an FDA approved coating to replace this loss, due to handling. Most shoppers choose to wash these waxes and resins off, since not all of these protective agents are derived from natural sources. The Environmental Protection Agency suggests using baking soda as a mild scrubbing agent to help remove dirt and wax while the World Health Organization suggests an organic household acid such as lemon juice. Soaps and bleach are not recommended since they are not suitable for digestion, but mild vinegars, white or cider are commonly used for this task, as are commercial produce rinses.


Cucumbers, Bell peppers, Eggplant, Potatoes, Apples, Lemons and Limes, Oranges are the most commonly commercially waxed fruit and vegetables.
